About the School of 96 E.C.S Def‑Led Education
Welcome to the School of 96 E.C.S Def‑Led. Founder Kwame Afrik is a self‑employed educator, British Sign Language teacher, creative sign language coach and choreographer, as well as a Deaf awareness trainer, who established the site to share the universal sign language for BSL signers and foreign sign language users seeking to optimise their signing skills.
96 E.C.S Def‑Led was founded as a business in August 2021. The 96 E.C.S Def‑Led — which stands for the 96 Europa Cultural Society of the Def‑Led — is an urban organisation operating as a Limited by Guarantee. It serves as an educational provider for its community and educational institutions.
96 offers BSSL courses (delivered by 96 E.C.S Def‑Led) and BSL courses (delivered by Signature) at Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. Kwame is fully qualified as a trainer through Signature, the governing body for BSL educators. Additionally, other Deaf BSL teachers collaborate with the school and deliver their lessons on the 96 E.C.S Def‑Led platform. In our careers as BSL tutors, we often utilise a Communication Support Worker (CSW) for most translation work.
If you have any questions about the 96 E.C.S Def‑Led course, please contact us here. We hope you enjoy the School of 96 E.C.S Def‑Led Education.

Our mission
96 E.C.S Def‑Led Mission: The Educational Provider
Incorporation
Integration
Refinement
Enhancement
Cultivation
Development
Our educational provider, 96 E.C.S Def‑Led, has three critical points that guide our main goal: 1) Incorporation — Integration, 2) Refinement — Enhancement, and 3) Cultivation — Development. These points are fundamental to delivering a dynamic, forward‑thinking, progressive learning experience for our learners and partner organisations. We are committed to producing exceptional leaders, teachers, coaches, artists, creators, business people, entrepreneurs, nutritionists, sport and fitness trainers, herbalists, scientists, engineers, technocrats, sustainable ecologists and conservationists, agriculturalists, and S.E.E.D.S (Sustainable, Ecological, Engineering, Design for Society) offspring who will help create a haven for our planet.
We are dedicated to improving communication among deaf and hearing individuals, including those who are able‑bodied and disabled, to create stronger communities. Our mission is to guarantee that individuals with disabilities, including those who are deaf, are granted equal opportunities as their able‑bodied counterparts — access to education, entertainment, employment and services. The Europa platform's core mission is to deliver educational materials in multiple languages to European countries, commencing with the United Kingdom: promoting awareness and consciousness, and improving the quality of education and services by using signing language alongside various spoken languages.
We provide top‑notch accredited and informal courses in British Sign Language, alongside optional courses in literacy, maths, agriculture, horticulture, music, nutrition, herbal medicine, fitness training, martial arts, IT and S.T.E.M. We are also developing Universal Sign languages for sign songs, communicative dance such as Azonto and urban street dance, sign storytelling, sign poetry and Visual Vernacular (VV) — removing the stiffness that hinders free expression, and strengthening mindset and dexterity against conditions such as Alzheimer's and cognitive impairment.

What 96 means
One DNA family stock.
The number combination 96 represents the diversity of racial genetics. The digit 9 signifies African genetics, while 8, 7 and 6 represent other races across the Western and Eastern hemispheres — reminding us that we all originate from the same DNA family stock. In abstract terms it also represents Yin (6 — contraction) and Yang (9 — expansion): twisting 69 to 96 becomes Yang‑dom and Yin‑dom, moving outward in creative, refined, cultivated progress.
